Stallhagen
Baltic Brew
The Baltic Sea is dying.
For centuries it has fallen victim to human ignorance, and the emissions, toxins and high levels of microplastics make it one of the most polluted oceans in the world.
Although the problems are well known, measures to restore the ocean have been few. So here we come. And put our hope in an unexpected bunch.
Save the sea, says the Baltic Brew
- and the drunks shall answer.
We started a collaboration with Stallhagen Brewery, located on Åland in the middle of the Baltic Sea, and created the world's first beer made with Baltic Sea water. By purifying the water and desalinating it with reverse osmosis we were able to create a solution to the problem.
A year later, Baltic Brew was launched. For every beer sold, a portion of the proceeds goes to the Baltic Sea Action Group and their work to restore the water quality and ecological balance of the Baltic Sea.
Baltic Brew was launched in October 2021 in pubs and restaurants around Sweden but also in stores on Åland and in Finland.
